Occasionally your hamster may appreciate a sand bath. The Syrian hamster has been known not to use as often as hamsters such as the Dwarfs, however providing any specie of hamster with a sand bath isn't going to do any harm. 

When deciding what sand to use it's best to go with a brand that is popular with hamster owners. You can't confuse sand with dust, as this will cause serious respiratory problems for your hamster. So, sand such as 'Reptisand' is a good brand to buy. When purchasing a dish for the sand, you can easily find a container of some sort in Pound Land or the Dollar Store. 

Sometimes your hamster may even use the sand bath as a litter tray!
